Instructions / Hints

The "Bible Search String" input is used to enter a search string to find in the King James Bible. For example, looking for "unicorn" will result in 6 verses being displayed. To narrow down the search, you can search for "unicorn crib" and only retrieve one verse. Combination of words are "AND'ed" together. If the words do not appear together in a single verse, no verses are displayed. Do NOTtry using "Search Engine" techniques, such as quote marks, AND, etc. This Bible Search Engine is NOT designed to use these techniques and will only result in a search FOR Biblical references with those words.

The "Book Chapter Verse" input is used to enter Book Chapter:Verse(s) to display. Please refer to the Book Abbreviations for the proper abbreviations for the names of the books. You can specify a range of verses using a hyphen between entries. For example, "Gen1:1-5" will return the first 5 verses of the Bible. "Gen1:1-Gen2:1" will return the whole first chapter and verse one from chapter 2. "Gen1:1 Jn3:16" will return two verses only.

You do NOT have to enter BOTH fields! This form is an "either / or" form. Enter either field and you get the expected results. Enter both fields and you get results from both searches.

If you receive a message, "No references. Use '@@word' first." it means that the phrase you entered can not be found. Try different variations of the phrase or shorten the phrase if it is a complicated or long phrase.
